Journal

The journal records what happened to each time entry. It answers two questions that are otherwise hard to settle: has this hour already been billed – and which invoice is it on?

What is this for?

  • Rule out double billing.
  • Trace an invoice back to the individual time entry.
  • Spot entries that were not billed because a mapping was missing.

Journal

How to set it up

  1. Each line records: business partner, day tracked, rounded hours, rate used with its currency and the item.
  2. Added to that is the document produced – document number and entry of the draft – plus the id of the billing run.
  3. The status says where a line stands: invoiced, not invoiced or error.
  4. An error usually means a missing mapping – user or activity. After correcting it, the line is picked up in the next run.
